Reiach & Hall win Irvine regeneration scheme with Urban Splash

Building Design

Urban Splash has secured its first ever Scottish project after it was picked with architect Reiach & Hall in a competition to design a £30 million regeneration of Irvine near Glasgow. The Manchester-based developer, which is also working with landscape architect Gross Max, was selected as preferred bidder for the 4.5 ha site by the Irvine Bay Regeneration Company (IBRC), ahead of developer Bank and architect GM&AD. Two other teams — developer Miller Homes working with architects Fraser Brown McKenna and Dignan Read Dewar and Places for People working with JM Architects — had already been eliminated in the contest, part of the Scottish government-backed Five Towns regeneration initiative. The win comes two months after Urban Splash failed in its bid to regenerate the Bellgrove area of Glasgow and amid continuing discussions between the developer and the Archdiocese of Glasgow over plans to revamp St Peter’s Seminary in Cardross.
