A community organisation is looking to seize control of valuable land and buildings on Edinburgh's waterfront. The Pilton Partnership will form a trust by the end of the month with a view to winning a vital foothold in one of the Capital's most rapidly developing districts. Following a trip to London to view similar community buy-out schemes, the organisation is confident it can play a role in Granton's regeneration. They hope that by setting up the trust they will be able to raise financial support and also persuade landowners to part with land at less than market value. In return, they would provide valuable community assets and services, such as running community centres and maintaining local parks and estates.
