Call for Holyrood to back Dumfries House campaign

The Scotsman

Labour MSP and deputy leader Cathy Jamieson joined a growing chorus yesterday calling on the Scottish Executive to save Dumfries House and its unique furniture collection. The former Justice Minister has submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament to recognise the "national and international" importance of Dumfries House. The 18th century East Ayrshire stately home, designed by William Adams and his sons, boasts the original 250 year old furnishings by top Edinburgh cabinet-makers and the legendary Thomas Chippendale. It is described as a "time-capsule" of the Scottish Enlightenment.
