Big things in store for Porty with beach pyramids project
They form one of the Seven Wonders of the World, drawing countless visitors each year to the banks of the Nile. Now city tourism leaders are hoping pyramids planned for Portobello Beach can do something similar, though on a somewhat smaller scale, for the banks of the Forth. Three 13ft-high pyramids will be created in a summer project expected to take four weeks to complete. Organisers have ordered in 15,000 industrial-sized sandbags that residents will help fill with 300,000kg of sand from the famous beach.
