Is this the high point of Leith's new look?

Edinburgh Evening News

A 30-storey skyscraper would be built on the shore of the Firth of Forth under new plans to regenerate Leith's docklands. The 100-metre high hotel and flats complex would tower above a massively expanded Ocean Terminal shopping and leisure complex. The plan to create the Capital's tallest building in the Western Harbour is part of a development blueprint drawn up by property giant Forth Ports. It would stand alongside Ocean Terminal - which would double in size - and close to a new cultural quarter, possibly including a new concert arena and museum, as part of the plans. The tower has been partly inspired by the success of the Beetham Tower, the acclaimed 47-storey landmark which is Manchester's tallest building. Michaela Sullivan, head of planning at Forth Ports, said: "We understand from the council that the principle of a tall building at the height proposed is acceptable. We have been down to have a look at the Beetham Tower, in Manchester, which is just fantastic and that's the kind of development we're looking at, albeit not on the same scale.
