A massive blueprint designed to shape the future of Edinburgh was unveiled by city leaders today. The Edinburgh City Local Plan will set out the rules for developers to follow over the next eight years, when more than 30,000 new homes are expected to be built in the Capital. It will help protect the skyline and key views across the city, as well as providing guidelines for major developments such as the Granton and Leith Waterfront schemes, the renovation of Princes Street and the St James Centre. It will also set out proposals to limit HMOs, create more renewable energy sources, build more affordable housing and protect green-belt land across the city. City planning leader Trevor Davies said today that the new plan would help to "set the vision for the future of Edinburgh".
