Edinburgh's planning leader today insisted that the city's heritage status was not under threat despite criticism from a United Nations body. The International Council of Monuments and Sites UK (ICOMOS) UK is concerned about the impact the 11-storey Quartermile flats will have on the city's skyline. It is considering putting Edinburgh's Old and New Town on its Heritage in Danger List. However, Councillor Trevor Davies said it is up to another UN body, Unesco, to decide which sites across the world should be stripped of heritage status. ICOMOS acts a consultant and offers advice to Unesco.
