Scottish Construction News

Plans for a £100m transformation the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow have been given the go-ahead by Glasgow City Council. Councillors approved a planning application to redevelop the St Enoch Centre. Work on the project is expected to start in the new year. An extension to the shopping centre will include a cinema, casino, nightclub, bar and restaurant. Developers said work would take three years and create up to 1,500 jobs. The size of the St Enoch Centre will increase by a third under the plan. Extra shopping and basement car parking will be provided. Eight "letters of concern" were received by the council. Issues raised included gambling addiction related to the proposed casino and the length of the construction period.
