Film enthusiasts will enjoy a rare opportunity to see Glasgow's changing social landscape when a series of features are given a screening next year. Many of the films, which were sponsored by the local authority between 1920 and 1978, have not been seen for more than 50 years, remaining undisturbed in the Scottish Screen Archive. The Lighthouse, Scotland's National Architecture and Design Centre, will be hosting the screenings between 12 March and 7 May 2007. Lucy McEachen, exhibitions manager at the Lighthouse, said the pictures reflected the shifting character of the city over a pivotal period in the 20th century. "Between 1920 and 1978, Glasgow Corporation sponsored more than 50 films," she explained.
