Architect behind regeneration of Shore dies in street aged 64

Edinburgh Evening News

A well-known architect who helped steer part of the regeneration of the Shore in Leith has died. David Stamp, 64, was cycling in North Berwick High Street just after midday on Saturday when he collapsed after appearing to suffer a heart attack. A passing doctor rushed to his aid and attempted to resuscitate him but he died half an hour later. The father-of-two, who lived in the town's Westgate area, ran his architecture firm Gilmour & Stamp from the office boat MY Eala Bhan on The Shore. Along with businessmen Fraser Mills and Dennis Multon, he ran Water of Leith 2000, which helped bring the ship Ocean Mist, formerly owned by the Guinness family, to Leith in the mid-1980s
