The RIAS has been approached by retired architects Bill Macdonald and Bob Forsyth who have been working on the Glasgow Dean of Guild drawing archive. Their work to date is likely to come to a halt, with no sign of anyone to continue unless volunteers can be urgently found. Glasgow City Council Archives have an index of drawings available from 1910 – 70 but all the index lists is the name of the of the petitioner, address and date. Bob and Bill have taken the index forward from 1910 to the 1920s. They are able to use their experience and architectural knowledge and to pick out the important buildings, important architects and add more details about the types of drawings available in the pack of drawings – giving details of elevations etc. It therefore seems likely that only an architect, or someone familiar with architectural drawings and files, would be able to continue the wonderful job they have done so far.
