The RIAS Award for Architecture was established in 2002. Its objective is clear: find and nominate the best building in Scotland. The architects of the winning building will receive £25,000, making this one of the most significant architecture awards in the world.
Building projects of all sizes and types – located in Scotland and designed by an architect - will be considered for this award. All shortlisted buildings will be visited by a panel of architect judges and the final decision will be announced at a special presentation ceremony later in the year.
The programme for the 2006 Awards is currently being organised. Jury members are now being invited and names will be announced very shortly. For the fifth year of the prize, RIAS is developing the presentation event into a gala dinner to reflect the prestigious status of the award on the Scottish, UK and European stage.
This year 34 entries have been received and the winner will be announced at the dinner in the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh on Thursday 16 November.
