Proposals for the £50 million redevelopment of a former city textiles factory are expected to go before councillors this month. Oil tycoon Ian Suttie's company First Construction wants to turn the former Broadford Works site into an urban village. The plans include 398 flats, along with shops, office space, restaurants, a pub and 501 parking spaces at the former Richards site on Maberly Street. The 8.5 acre site, bounded by Maberly Street, Ann Street, Hutcheon Street and George Street, is listed in category A for special architectural and historical interest. Scottish firm of architects Halliday Fraser Munro has drawn up the plans, in consultation with the city council and Historic Scotland.
