Funding pledged to landmark plan
Proposals for a major artwork at Gretna to mark its location at the "gateway" to Scotland have been put forward. Funds have been earmarked to pursue the project - priced at up to £2m - through an international design competition. The aim is to construct a striking landmark similar to the Angel of the North near Newcastle. The design of the project is yet to be decided but it will be judged by a panel of local people and professionals in the field of art and architecture.
