A Cairngorms crofter has created an environmentally-friendly lodge with the help of a grant from the Scottish Executive. Marina Dennis enlisted the help of North Woods Construction, Ulapool designer and builder Bernard Plantercose, Grantown builder Ron Laing from AW Laing and Chris Morgan of Edinburg-based Locate Architects, to create a £280,000 home, of which £40,000 came from the government. The three-bedroom lodge at Inchdryne, Nethybridge, is available for let as a holiday home for tourists, but will provide future accomodation for Dennis's son Roddy and his family, who like many other young families are struggling to climb on to the property ladder, due to the lack of affordable housing.
