Mackintosh festival to raise £7m in style

The Herald

Scotland's biggest Charles Rennie Mackintosh festival was launched yesterday, with tourism chiefs hoping it will generate £7.75m and boost Glasgow tourism by 150,000. The Glasgow Mackintosh Festival aims to make the designer and Glasgow synonymous, echoing Barcelona's marketing of Antoni Gaudi, the artist who was at the forefront of the art nouveau movement. With more than 100 events and exhibitions throughout the rest of this year, the celebration of Mackintosh's life culminates in September with tours and talks at a number of venues including the Hunterian art gallery and the Lighthouse.
