Construction work is due to get under way soon on the Moray Centre for the Arts which will be located on a five-acre site next to the Field of Dreams Eco- Village near the Findhorn Foundation. Project director Randy Klinger said it had been a long haul to get to the construction stage, but after several years planning and gathering funding, he was delighted that work was finally due to begin with completion expected before the end of this year. "We have just signed a contract with Ivan Russell builders from Elgin, " he said, "and we are due to break earth next week. I cannot believe we are finally at this stage." The new hi-tech centre will be built in an ecofriendly manner and will be a bright, light-filled space, designed as a model of self sufficiency with revolutionary geo-thermal underfloor heating. This acts a bit like a fridge in reverse to draw heat from the earth's core and the building will also be fitted with solar roof tiles which means it should not need to draw any power from the national grid.
