'Gherkin' architect to design super-school

Scotland on Sunday

Project managers developing a £30m Scottish business super-school have appointed the architect behind the iconic Swiss Re 'Gherkin' tower block in London. Ken Shuttleworth, a 30-year veteran of the Norman Foster Partnership, is already working on detailed designs for the school which aims to put Scotland at the forefront of international management education. His roll call of honours includes the so-called 'Gherkin' in the heart of London's financial district. Two years ago he launched a breakaway practice, Make, staffed by a number of former Foster's employees and it also has an office in Edinburgh.
