Barrowland fans' historic bid to protect neon signs

Evening Times

A Glasgow architect is trying to have the famous Barrowland sign made into a listed landmark. Alan Pert, of Nord architects, says the neon facade is a "symbol of Glasgow" and is famous throughout the world. Mr Pert wants the sign - and the rest of the frontage - preserved for future generations. And he says that if the frontage is listed, it would be almost impossible for the rest of the Barrowland to be used for anything other than a music venue.
