Set proudly behind a stone and iron railing, battered steps lead the way into Glasgow School of Art. Inside, the Scottish baronial architecture and Art Nouveau motifs silently boast of the man who created it: Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a former student and architect of the school's main building. Upstairs, GSA director Professor Seona Reid's office demonstrates the art school's position more than a century on. Degree show paintings and drawings litter the walls; a work by Rosalind Nashashibi - the first woman to win the Beck's Futures art prize, in 2003 - sits propped up on one side, waiting for a new home.
