Revamped national stadium could be shot in arm for Gunners

Edinburgh Evening News

Plans for a "stadium within a stadium" at Murrayfield to provide a better atmosphere for players and spectators have been put to the Scottish Rugby Union by an ex-internationalist. Dunfermline-based architect Ken Oliver, capped against Australia in 1980, has written to the SRU urging the body to consider installing demountable seating along the running track in front of the West stand. Former Gala player Oliver is also proposing to "black out" the top tier of the grandstands so that the venue assumes the appearance of the 20,000-capacity multi-sports ground many experts feel Edinburgh badly needs.
