Modern architecture finds its Eden

The Scotsman

The Eden Project in Cornwall has been voted the UK's best-loved modern building. The parliament building in Edinburgh was named the eighth most popular - just a day after another survey found it was regarded as one of Britain's biggest eyesores. Four of the top ten listings - 30 St Mary Axe, in London, better known as the Gherkin; the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey; the Great Court at the British Museum and the Millennium Bridge, both in London - were created by Sir Norman Foster, one of the world's leading architects. The constructions by Sir Norman and his team came in second, third, fourth and seventh place in the YouGov poll commissioned for ConstructionSkills, the council for the industry.
