Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006
A celebration of Glasgow's most famous architect and designer is tipped to bring 150,000 visitors and £7.75million to the city. Events celebrating the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh will take place throughout next year, with a programme of highlights in September. Details of the Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006 were being unveiled today at Mackintosh House in the Hunterian Museum. One of the key attractions will be a gallery - named Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow Style - dedicated to the designer which will be unveiled at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum when it reopens in the summer. The festival promises to showcase the "unique riches of Glasgow's extraordinary Mackintosh heritage". They include exhibitions at seven Mackintosh venues, including The House for an Art Lover and Glasgow School of Art and educational workshops and activities.
