Work on a £6,8million pioneering school for students with sight problems is to begin this week after months of delays. Hazelwood School on Glasgow's south side will be Europe's most advanced learning centre for sensory-impaired children. Building at the Dumbreck site was scheduled to begin this summer but planning red tape meant the project was held up. The completion date of October 2006 will almost certainly be pushed back, Glasgow City Council said today. The tailor-made school, on green space near Bellahouston Park, will have an innovative design to allow children to feel their way through the building by touching the walls.
