A group of Edinburgh pupils have become the first in Scotland to take part in workshops to celebrate the life and work of Scottish architect Sir Basil Spence. Schoolchildren from the Royal High School and Broughton High School have been taking part this week in an "Office Life" design workshop at Spence's Scottish Widows building at the foot of Arthur's Seat. The pupils were shown how to interpret plans of the building, before taking a tour to see how they were put into context. They then created their own design brief with the help of a professional designer, an architectural historian and Scottish Widows staff.
