Officials condemn 'Carbuncle' tag

BBC

Council officials have criticised a "ridiculous" award after Cumbernauld was named Scotland's most dismal town for the second time. The North Lanarkshire town received the Carbuncle award, or 'Plook on a Plinth', in a competition organised by architecture magazine Prospect. But the council said it was "unhelpful, unjustified negative thinking". Organisers said they took no pleasure in giving the award to Cumbernauld for a second time.
