Seminary tops list of best modern buildings

Sunday Herald

A disused Roman Catholic seminary has been named as Scotland's best modern building. St Peter's College, in Cardross, near Helensburgh, has been ranked the most influential building to be constructed in Scotland since the end of the second world war, by the chair of a panel of leading Scottish architecture experts. The list of 100 modern buildings, to be unveiled at the Scottish Design Show in Glasgow this week, has been compiled by a team of practising architects and specialists chosen by architecture and design magazine, Prospect. Aiming to contradict a widespread perception that modernist architecture is ugly, Penny Lewis, Prospect editor, asked her editorial board to propose Scotland's best buildings from the last six decades in a series of meetings.
