A £300 million development of homes, shops and restaurants on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow was set to be given the go-ahead today. Planning officials have backed proposals to build almost 1000 flats and leisure facilities on a rundown area south of the river and councillors were likely to officially approve the scheme. The 10-storey development in Tradeston, proposed by developers Alburn Tradeston, will include two-level one, two and three bedroom apartments. It will feature three new blocks and incorporate the listed Kingston House. The proposed site is bounded by Clyde Place, Commerce Street, Kingston Street and West Street and there will also be 90,000sq ft of shops, restaurants, offices, cafes and a creche for up to 100 children. Clyde Place will be pedestrianised and lined with restaurants, pubs and parks.
