What was once a concrete mixing yard on this remote island is now an eye-catching ferry shelter. Yet, because of its remote location, few have stepped inside the structure that won the Best Building in Scotland Award in 2003. Donald Urquhart is a member of the team of artists and architects that collaborated on the project. "The special thing about this structure is that it is a cutting-edge design that manages to form a dialogue with the landscape," he says. "Its low, flat shape reflects the horizontality of the area and its colours co-ordinate with black and white houses on the island."
