Benedetta Tagliabue, widow of Enric Miralles, designer of the Scottish parliament, has hailed the building's success at the Scottish Design Awards as a “homage” to her husband's memory. At the national award ceremony, overseen by a panel of internationally renowned judges, the £431 million parliament complex was named best publicly funded building in Scotland and also scooped the industry's biggest honour, the Architecture Grand Prix. Tagliabue, of Barcelona-based architecture practice EMBT, was at the Glasgow Moat House Hotel to receive the awards , which she accepted alongside Tony Kettle, managing director of RMJM UK, the firm that partnered EMBT in the fulfilment of the controversial project.
