The team behind the Scottish Parliament has won the top prize at the Scottish Design Awards. The building, which was completed last year, was named Best Publicly Funded Building and won the overall Architecture Grand Prix at the event. The Holyrood project was dogged by controversy over delays and spiralling costs. The final price tag was £431m. Benedetta Tagliabue, the widow of architect Enric Miralles, was in Glasgow to receive the award. Ms Tagliabue stepped up her involvement in the Holyrood project following the death of her husband in July 2000.
