For generations Edinburgh's skyline has been dominated by buildings that reflect its rich history. But skyscrapers could soon appear on the horizon of the Scottish capital following the appointment of a team of architectural experts in the first overhaul of the city's skyline policy for almost 40 years. City of Edinburgh Council has appointed the architectural company Colvin & Moggridge to draw up a cohesive strategy designed to help planning officers assess new building proposals in the 21st century. The English firm has a reputation for handling conservation issues with sensitivity, having overseen prestigious projects in London's Horse Guards Parade and The Mall beside Buckingham Palace.
