Flagship project injecting fresh life into city

The Scotsman

From the redevelopment of Leith's waterfront to Edinburgh Park on the city's western fringes, the face of Auld Reekie is taking on a radical new look. In between, key projects such as Quartermile on the site of the old Royal Infirmary and Edinburgh Quay in Fountainbridge show the Capital can move with the times. One name playing an increasingly prominent role in such flagship schemes is Thomas and Adamson, the Edinburgh-based construction and property consultancy. Voted top quantity surveyor in Scotland for 2004, the 70-year-old practice has built a solid platform for further growth in 2005. Unveiling plans to bolster the current 100-strong head-count by up to 25 over the next five years, senior partner Martin Reid argues that contemporary design can sit alongside more traditional architecture.
