Call to bulldoze hotel for Jenners revamp

Edinburgh Evening News

One of the Capital's landmark hotels should be bulldozed to make way for a massive expansion of the Jenners department store, city leader Donald Anderson said today. He claims the redevelopment of the Mount Royal Hotel on Princes Street would pave the way for Jenners to be transformed into a world-famous department store on a par with Harrods in London. The Mount Royal building - which includes the Ramada Jarvis Hotel and Marks & Spencer - is still owned by the Douglas Miller family, who sold Jenners and its satellite outlets to House of Fraser for more than £46 million earlier this week.
