Kevin McCloud, the presenter of Channel Four's Grand Designs, is launching a project which, if all goes to plan, will end with the UK's ugliest building being destroyed. The television series, called Demolition, is the opposite of BBC2's Restoration. Viewers will be asked to vote on-line for the vilest piece of architecture in the land. Then, once a short- list is created, a team of experts will examine each monstrosity and decide which one gets the dynamite treatment. "I am determined that, at the end of the series, something is going to be blown up," he said. This could prove problematic. Though the website for the series, backed by the Royal Institute of British Architects, only opened today, it has already received some nominations. One of them is Cumbernauld. All of it.
