Victory in sight for campaign to block new flats

Campaigner battling against a leading architect's scheme to replace an "eyesore" office block with flats have won the backing of city planners. Cala Homes wants to demolish Trinity Park House and construct a seven-storey building containing 300 flats in South Trinity Road. But local residents are fighting the proposals drawn up by award-winning Edinburgh architect Richard Murphy amid fears the project will spoil the area and dwarf surrounding buildings. Planning officials have now recommended that city councillors reject the scheme.
