Scotland's architects, designers and planners must "raise their game" if they are to match the country's national heritage, the chair of the new national architecture body said yesterday. Raymond Young, who has been appointed chair of Architecture and Design Scotland (A+DS), said the organisation's first task would be to improve standards across the board. "We want to change the approach in Scotland to design and architecture. I think we really have to raise our game, in lots of areas, if we are to live up to a lot of our heritage," he said. "Our first priority is to build on the work done by the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland [RFACS] in working with developers to look at how we can improve the quality of some of the developments across the country."
