Specialists named to new body

The Herald

Three specialists in architecture and design were named yesterday to head the new body that will advise the Scottish Executive on major building projects. The organisation, Architecture and Design Scotland (ADS), will be a modernised replacement for the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland when it disappears next April after nearly 80 years. Patricia Ferguson, minister for tourism, culture and sport, said ADS was being established as the national champion for good architecture and design. The chair is Raymond Young OBE, an architect and a former senior member of staff of Scottish Homes with a wide experience of community housing associations. He is now a housing and regeneration consultant.
