Glasgow's silver lining

The Herald

Glasgow, the quintessentially Victorian metropolis, is at risk of acquiring a new, built environment-based moniker suitable for the age – city of the silver darlings. It is a description the city should be proud of acquiring. It gives the opportunity to present a bright, new, shining face to the world. Appropriately, the showcase is to be found on both banks of the once-great River Clyde. A new transport museum for the city will be the latest, and most spectacular, building to take its place among the others springing up along the river. The Clyde Auditorium (popularly known as the Armadillo); the Glasgow Science Centre; the Glasgow Tower; and the Imax cinema. Each is clad in a distinctive silvery sheen.
