

Even her harshest critics admire the breathtaking ambition of her architectural style, but all too often her designs are dismissed as "brilliant but unbuildable". Now the Iraqi has been chosen to mastermind one of Scotland's most prestigious museum projects. According to Hadid, an architect of the controversial deconstructivist school which includes Daniel Liebeskind, designer of the structure to replace the twin towers in New York, her new building in Glasgow will be "fun". Glasgow, a former European city of architecture and design, is bracing itself for the arrival of one of Hadid's avante-garde designs which will occupy one of the most symbolic sites in the city. Hadid will oversee the construction of Glasgow's £50m riverside museum, which will replace the Transport Museum at the city's Kelvin Hall.
