The sceptics and critics among the ranks of MSPs began to claim their spaces at the Scottish Parliament yesterday, with most pleased by their bespoke offices designed by Enric Miralles. There was a whiff of controversy as it emerged that the Conservatives had allocated women MSPs the offices with the shallower bay windows, on the grounds that they were less likely to complain and demand wider seats because of female pride. Although some MSPs complained about the lack of space, excessive heat and shoddy workmanship, others praised the beauty of the building and singled out the debating chamber as an architectural success.
