The life of an architect is not all steel and stonework. For some, it's just as much about shrubbery, and according to Kenny Fraser, landscape architects need a lighter touch than some members of the profession. "One day you're dealing with plants," he says. "The next you're dealing with pre-cast concrete." Or in Fraser's case, 3,500 pieces of pre-cast concrete. The 34-year-old from Edinburgh is responsible for the "softer" elements of the Holyrood site – the planting, the turfing, the water features. And there's plenty to plant, turf and hydrate.
