Scotland on Sunday

They are dull, grey and square, and they've finally moved into the £430m new Scottish Parliament building. But they are the 3,000 boxes which have already shifted around 500 tons of paperwork and office equipment to Holyrood, not the MSPs who will opine, debate and legislate there. Our elected politicians don't move in until later this month. By last Friday night, though, the new home of Scottish democracy was officially - if not formally - open for business, with 375 of the parliament's 460 staff having moved from one end of Edinburgh's Royal Mile to the other. Amazingly, despite the project's troubled history - plus a few broken toilets, dodgy phones and false fire alarms - the place seemed to be working nicely. So far.
