Edinburgh architects have struck out at city planners for being “absurd”, “overzealous” and waging a “war of attrition” on local practices after an architect was forced to a public inquiry over permission for a £260 shed in his garden. Edinburgh architect Moray Royles, partner at City Architecture Office (CiAO), was refused permission by the City of Edinburgh Council because his house is in a conservation area. The public inquiry into the 2.1m by 1.5m shed will cost the Scottish Executive about £1,500, excluding civil servants' wages.
