City chiefs were today accused of forcing businesses to the fringes of the Capital by imposing strict conservation rules. Award-winning Sutherland Hussey Architects claimed firms were faced with unreasonable requests from Edinburgh City Council over developments in conservation areas. Charles Hussey, a partner at the agency, said: "I find Edinburgh a bit uptight. We had a run-in over two doors on a category B-listed Georgian building. It was absurd that we were being asked to preserve 30s doors. A tiny design issue went to appeal and lasted a year.
