New group fights to save green spaces from developers

The Herald

A new organisation has started a battle to protect Glasgow's green spaces from housing developers. Partickhill Garden Trust, set up earlier this year to preserve three tennis courts in the city's west end where green space is already at a premium said it would lodge objections to an application for planning permission for eight flats on the site of a bowling club in the city's south side. It also plans to oppose every application across Glasgow that would hit green space. Its members are concerned that housebuilders will win every time, unless objections are fully co-ordinated, competent and professional. The trust said it was gearing up to become as good as the developers and their consultants in planning issues and arguments.
