'Wrong size' windows fitted at parliament

The Scotsman

Windows for the new Holyrood parliament building were four inches too big when they arrived at the site - but officials ordered they should be installed anyway. Now experts have warned there is "every chance" of rain leaking into the building at some point in the future. The instruction to fit the oversized windows - which meant that three windows were omitted from one of the debating chamber's rooflights - was one of a series of decisions taken in the "dash to finish" the £431 million building, which architects claimed was compromising quality.
