A leading city architect has waded into the row over a 1960s box-like house by backing plans to demolish the building. Stirling Prize nominee Malcolm Fraser today claimed the Alexander Esme Gordon house at Greenhill Park, Merchiston, was not worth preserving. A controversial plan by owners Alistair and Julia White to level the dwelling to make way for three new houses has been stopped in its tracks after Historic Scotland gave the building a Category-B listing. But Mr Fraser, who designed the award-winning Dance Base in the Grassmarket, today said the house should be demolished.
