Architectural 'holy of holies' features Scottish work

The Scotsman

The world's most prestigious architectural showcase has invited Scotland to participate for the first time in the 20-year history of the event. New Scottish buildings will be seen by more than 100,000 of the most influential people in the field. The Scots "installation" will be in the "holy of holies" - the official pavilion of La Biennale Di Venezia 9, it was announced in Italy yesterday. Italian officials said Scottish work had reached a stage of excellence that demanded its inclusion. A special Scottish show of 17 projects is being co-ordinated by the Lighthouse, the national centre for architecture, design and the city, where its jubilant director said the news was the ultimate accolade.
