Developers today unveiled the winning scheme designed to breathe new life into the former Odeon cinema in the south of the city. Edinburgh-based Lee Boyd Architects beat off stiff competition from two other firms to land the lucrative deal to transform the cinema into flats, cafes and a central courtyard. The announcement follows talks between the developers, Duddingston House Properties, and city planning officials about the three designs for the site in Clerk Street. The vision drawn up by Lee Boyd - which will see the historic cinema frontage retained - features flats on the upper floors of three blocks with cafes on the lower levels spilling out on to a central courtyard.
